QCon is here this week in San Francisco. From the conference website, you can see:
QCon is a practitioner-driven conference designed for team leads, architects and project managers. The program includes two tutorial days led by over 80 industry experts and authors and three conference days with 18 tracks and over 80 speakers covering a wide variety of relevant and exciting topics in software development today. There is no other event in the US with similar opportunities for learning, networking, and tracking innovation occurring in the enterprise software development community.
Among a really great list of speakers including folks like Rich Hickey, the creator of Clojure and John Hughes, co-designer of Haskell, MarkLogic's own Mary Holstege will be speaking on the twisted topic of a SQL interface for a NoSQL database. Details of her presentation are below:
Presentation: "The Design of a SQL Interface for a NoSQL Database"
Time: Wednesday 13:45 - 14:20
Location: Seacliff CD
We briefly review the architecture of a NoSQL Document Database that stores XML, JSON, text, and binary data. Like most NoSQL databases, it has a variety of native interfaces, none of which connect to standard BI tools. We will then discuss the design of a SQL interface and ODBC driver for connecting the database to Cognos and Tableau.
