Don't hesitate to copy me on the discussion too, if you take it offline. 
I've got a fair amount of Linux experience (although I'm running my Mark 
Logic server on Windows XP because my Linux machine is a bit too 
downlevel on gclib).

I can also sometimes provide help on Java issues. Note that Java 
applications--and Java itself--don't take kindly to RPM packaging 
either. For example, the latest Fedora Core release notes mention a 
conflict in which their GCJ packages can end up regressing the RPM-based 
SDK and JRE installs from Sun.
