  Yes, but I am not sure this is in the spirit of the REC.  It says this is allowed but not recommended, so I guess it just let the door open for some specialized implementations where that could be a real advantage.  But well, I am just guessing and you're right, that's conformant.

  I wouldn't be one of them, but well, I guess I am too much used to XSLT, where we can't change the default function namespace anyway :-)
