[MarkLogic Dev General] xdmp:document-get vs xdmp:extermal-binary

I'm looking for some validation in my understanding of these two functions. Is this correct:

1) xdmp:document-get gets then entire file off of disk and it goes into expanded tree cache

2) xdmp:external-binary gets only the bytes that you specify from the file on disk and those bytes do not go into expanded tree cache
