[MarkLogic Dev General] Counting results of cts:search()

Hi Danny,

Copy and paste the entire cts:search as argument. It won’t evaluate the
entire cts:search, but use indexes to get an unfiltered fragment count..

Kind regards,

Geert

Hi Geert,

I tried xdmp:estimate($searchResults) and I'm getting XDMP-UNSEARCHARBLE -
expression is unsearchable.

Any idea ?

Danny

Hi Danny,

You would have to specify fragmentation parents or roots in the admin
interface. There is no fragmentation by default.

Kind regards,

Geert

Hi Geert,

Thanks. How do I know if I'm using fragmentation or not ?

Danny

Hi Danny,

Try xdmp:estimate. For the record, it counts fragments. If you are not
using fragmentation, and don’t search for elements other than roots of docs
and fragments, the count should be accurate.

Kind regards,

Geert

Is there a faster way of counting the results returned by cts:search()
other than doing an fn:count() on it ?

Regards,
Danny
