MarkLogic is now officially supported on Kubernetes. Kubernetes is an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. With Kubernetes, you can easily deploy and manage MarkLogic clusters on any cloud platform or on-premises environment. MarkLogic offers two solutions to create MarkLogic clusters on Kubernetes using Helm chart and Operator.
MarkLogic Operator
Operators are Kubernetes software extensions that use custom resources to manage applications and components. A Kubernetes Operator is a tool that helps you automatically manage and run applications on Kubernetes including tasks like deploying, upgrading, scaling, and recovering. This is helpful for running complicated stateful applications like databases.
MarkLogic Helm Chart
MarkLogic Helm Chart simplifies the installation and configuration of MarkLogic on Kubernetes. Helm is a package manager for Kubernetes that allows you to define, install, and upgrade applications using charts. A chart is a collection of files that describes the resources needed to run an application on Kubernetes.
