Synapse provides intelligent semantically-driven search across tens of millions of R&D documents, both internal and external. As well as the obvious productivity gains, allowing scientists to find relevant information more easily and look across several repositories at once, it has supported projects digging back into the archives. This “digital archaeology” approach has been used successfully to advance a significant research project. Synapse is in use by a number of pilot teams and is now being rolled out across the wider R&D organization.
